Right now i have a pc that my brother bought in 2011 and my specs are the next:
MB: GIGABYTE GA-770T USB3.0
CPU: PHENOM II X4 965, with stock cooler and no clue if it was OC'd
GPU: ATI RADEON 4300/4500 SERIES
RAM: 6gb DDR3 1333 mhz but no clue of the brand
CASE: i think its a mid tower generic case with a GIGABYTE blue sticker
HDD1: SEAGATE BARRACUDA 500 GB
HDD2: WD BLUE 1TB
OS: WINDOWS 7 PROFESSIONAL version (before it was ultimate IDK why he changed it)

I would like to do video editing (no 4k, 1080p the last i will go) and gaming but i am tight at money but i can wait and buy in at least 2 years an modern build, so i wanted to ask you some urgent questions
1) I know by searching that my mobo can support phenom x6 processor but i have to actualize bios to my motherboard to recognize that processor and i read stories about how bad others killed they MB due to failed bios updates so i want to know a method to update my bios with out having that issue and safelly

2)Second, ¿Which Psu do i have to use, not talking about wattage, modular or non modular? the problem is that i have a generic psu and its fan its at the backand, not up or down, of the psu. ¿Do i have to buy or get other case? 'cause my case psu location is above and it has no holes to flow the hot airflow outside.

3) Its the hyper 212 evo a good cooler for this cpu or what would you recomend? Cause i have in mind to OC it to 3,8 or a dreaming 4.0 ghz

4) Finally, does this buil will support windows 10? Or do i better keep it a windows 7? Other people posted if wanted to play direct x11 its fine but i will not play games that need DX12 ( The high GPU that i read that this proccesor can support its 970) and i want to play games on 1080p so what do you recomend?

I have tried to find these answers searching but i have no luck to find them, I am on a low budget so this forum its my last chance, i read it and its filled with helpfull people that teached me a lot of things that i didn't know. I really hope some one ask this, it could help a lot. My native language its spanish and you will notice maybe several mistakes but i tried my best, i hope the message will get understanded.

Solution
if i be you i wouldn't be upgrading pc with those component, due to aging and not really well performing components.

i cannot really answer your #1 question as i don't really know about bios thingy.

to answer your #2 question, modular or non modular is preference, modular will cost more but the good thing with modular psu is that you can do better cable management as you only need to plug cable you need. non modular will cost cheaper but if you don't mind the messy cable then it's up2u. if your case doesn't have some kind of ventilation holes for top fan psu, you can still use top fan kind of psu, but the fan exhaust is going into your case, which might make temperature inside case slightly hotter, which means you might want to add...

question #3 : hyper 212 is a good cooler for its price if you are on limited budget, but for overclocking i cannot really guarantee how it perform, as usually fan cooler cannot really handle oc that well, especially ancient amd processor generates a lot of heat. don't always force your cpu to oc at certain clock you want, because cpu have limit and vrm can also affect your overclocking.

question #4 : your machine support windows 10, but there might be some issue, due to old components on your pc, especially if your pc vital components don't get anymore driver updates since pretty long time ago, which can cause a lot of trouble, windows 10 might have better performance in several games, but it will depends on what game and your machine, so there is also some chance that game running in windows 7 run better

Solution

water cooler might help handle the oc, but most single radiator cooler that were cheap usually can be outperformed by good air cooler at nearly identical price. oh also you might want to check what kind of thermal paste you used and how got it was applied, because those can affect cooling a bit
