Old PSU with new build

I'm looking to build a new home PC. I am looking at a Intel i5 4590 with a H97 mobo. I will either use the onboard graphics for now or my old gforce 8600gts.

I have a 450W psu and I want to know if it will be powerful enough for the new build. I will get a newer graphics card at some point as well.

Is 450 enough without a new graphics card? How about with a new card? Thanks for reading.

450W is enough, as long as you don't get anything more powerful than a GTX 750Ti.

The 450W is perfect but not enough headroom for future expansions or upgrade.

450W is technically enough for any single-GPU PC you might want to put together. The problem is usually quality since around 90% of PSUs rated less than 80+ Bronze are passable at best.

You really should list what PSU you have exactly. While a 450w quality unit will be fine, a generic(crappy) PSU may not be. We can give you more informed recommendations after you list the make and model PSU you have. 😉

It is a Thermaltake psu, but not a good one, before getting another gpu, better change that psu.

No, the part number is different and mine isn't black, it's silver/grey. I bought it approx 6 years ago.
