Hi all.
I am currently facing a highlight in the long struggle of my desktop computer against blue screen crashes (20% of times) and wierd freezes (80% of times). In those freezes, the following happens: last picture on screen stays, no input at all affects the machine (even Caps Lock toggle doesn't affect the keyboard's indicator l.e.ds, yet they remain as they were before). The mouse doesn't work, yet in its case the optical light sensor shuts down straight away.

I am going through this tiny details just to say it's ambiguous whether the entire computer freezes or just the display.

Anyway, all this started when I stupidly decided to get a new Samsung UHD monitor and connect it as a 2nd monitor to my Quadro FX580 (old) card.

After these things gradually reccured more and more over the last month, now the card doesn't work, right from startup - I get POST indication of graphic card problem, and black screen.

Do you think the card is dead? anyone have a thought as for what measures can be taken or whether upgrading the Quadro card will help?

Thanks a lot.

No problem. I know you've tried but I'm not 100% sure that card will work correctly with 4k technology.
You may have to go for a 1.5gb upwards Quadro or GTX card.

Are you the first owner of the card? If not bare in mind it may have had a good run by the previous owner as it has been on the market since 2009.

It definitely had a good run with me... I bought it new in 2010 ... so it might be time for it. Sometimes, like now, it does surprise me with good, fluent days. Yet now and then, I get days-lasting episodes of freezes.

Might be a good time to upgrade the old workhorse. If you're looking for Quadro cards in particular there are plenty of bargains on 'new old stock' to be had on places like eBay.

Thanks.
I consider a new Quadro K620,
just wondering whether it'll fit my system
(specs above, and my PSU is: Corsair VX550w)

any consult on that would be greatly appreciated!
