Old rca hometheater to LG smart tv

Tv serial number is (704RMCJ3X171) I have an old RCA home theater serial number is (RTB1023) we have the HDMI cord plugged in to my arc port in the LG tv allowing us to watch the blue ray movie with surround sound but when we switch to regular tv surround sound doesn't work I'm assuming we need some sort of adapter thanks in advance for the help

Hello everyone I have been looking everywhere for a solution so my tv has an optical out spot and acr HDMI port my RCA has one of those red yellow white cords for audio and an HDMI I tried connecting the HDMI from the RCA to the ARC on the tv and it will only play the blue ray movies with surround sound I'm assuming some sort of adapter might be needed but I have no clue what one
