My ps4 has been having issues as of late, including 15 minute boot up times (15 mins from when I press the power button to loading the sign in menu), freezing/lagging menus, turning off by itself (causing me to fully initialize to get it back to the less crappy state), etc. If I want SONY to repair it, it'll cost me at least $150, by I was told by SONY to try replacing the hard drive. If replacing the hard drive doesn't work, I'll have to either pay $150 or get a new console altogether. Which brings me to my question: how would I go about swapping the console hard drive with an old hard drive from my 2011 Sony Vaio? Would I have to reformat the Viao hard drive? If so, how? Also would the hard drive even be suitable for the PS4?
The hard drive is a Western Digital 750GB 2.5 internal hard drive.
Model: WD7500BPVT
Any help would be appreciated, I'm not incredibly tech savy and short on cash.
If using the Vaio hard drive helps, I'll most likely upgrade to a better one in a few months, this is just a temporary fix.
