[SOLVED] old ssd and hdd in new pc

Hi! So i want to put an old ssd and hdd into a new pc, but i would like to know if i need to delete everything on them from another pc or i can do it in the new pc.

Please help me!!!

The SSD is where you want the OS on?

You can wipe it during the OS install in the new hardware.
Assuming Windows 10:

Section II, Step 6 & 7 talks about deleting all the existing partitions on it.

During the install, have only the SSD connected.
Reconnect the HDD later.

Depending on what is on it, you may not need to do anything with the data.

Nothing personal, just some games.

The games won't work if they were installed on another system as there will be no registry for them.

Steam games can maybe be reused.
You just have to tell the new Steam client on the SSD where those games are.


Otherwise, wipe that drive completely and start fresh.

Build up the system
Connect the SSD
Install the OS, drivers, etc on the SSD

Then, reconnect the HDD.
Open up Disk Management, and DELETE all existing partitions on the HDD
Format, and give it a drive letter.
Use as desired.
