My system specs are:

AMD Athlon II x4 630
8gb ddr2 800mhz
Asrock k10n78 mobo
Ati radeon hd 5670 1gb
500gb hdd
650w PSU

I am wanting to upgrade my gpu to a more modern budget gpu such as a gt 1030 (or cards around that price range, but they cant have 6 pin power as PSU doesnt have 6 pin connector). I would much prefer to buy new as well!

I have checked websites for compatibility, and there are mixed responses. The mobo has a pcie x16 2.0 slot and some say that a gt 1030 will be compatible, but others say it has problems with a legacy (non uefi) bios which is what my mobo has. Could someone with more technical knowledge than myself please let me know if you think this would be compatible with my system.

If there are any issues with the above mentioned gt 1030 and my system any suggestions for compatible GPU’s would ne greatly appreciated!!

Solution
I would not expect any compatibility issues with that board. It isn't that old, having PCIe 2.0. I've had several AM3 boards that old and older. None ever had an issue with a modern Nvidia card. You should be fine.
