Old toshiba l305-S5875. New cpu upgrade?

So my processor is a crappy Merom Intel Pentium t2390(dual core 1.86 GHz) and I am thinking of upgrading it. I know it is stupid to upgrade parts on a laptop, but I would like some suggestions. I was looking at upgrading to a Penryn Intel Core 2 duo t9900. Do you think that I would be able to do so? I also have a site below listed for where I found socket information for my motherboard.

You'll need to be extra careful confirming compatibility for that upgrade.
The CPUs don't have identical socket design.

I believe you are looking at a different processor. On intel's website it lists that there are two sockets that the Core 2 Duo Mobile T9900 can come with. One(like the one you listed) and another which is listed below:

Make sure you know how to switch out CPUs on laptops. It's a lot more difficult than in desktops. Can you get to the CPU? Also, if you're trying to upgrade for faster gaming, I think you're out of luck. You can't get the latest IGP because of socket differences... it's like upgrading five years down from an i3- 2100 to an i3-2370. The IGP is the same... the chip is a little faster. At least that's how I think it is... the socket changes with every "tock" (give or take), and every "tock" presents a boost in power ("ticks" are usually not so good).

Yes (at least according to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Tick-Tock ).

I'd try to upgrade the entire laptop... I don't think you're going to be able to upgrade it much. Or get a really small desktop (you'd be surprised at how small some of them can get..)

Now, ~$225 for a T9900? Save a bit more money and get a new laptop. Not cost-effective.

Unfortunately I just did this and the chip I used seems to be incompatible Mine was a bit higher end model then what the poster has, a S5927 with a 2.16GHz Pentium Dual-Core Merom. Though I'll admit, I went with one from a MacBook Pro (E8335 or something, ~2.93GHz), but I kinda hope that is why since I'd really LIKE to use a Penryn :\
