I decided to replace my 6 year old dell laptop for a new Mac book pro.
I compared the specs of the two processors, as 6 years have passed and have to say I am little disappointed. I don’t see a major performance upgrade!

2017 MBP 13 i5 3.1 touchbar with
Intel® Core™ i5-7267U Processor

2012 Dell Latitude E6430 with
Intel® Core™ i7-3720QM Processor

Any uplifting fact I should be aware of?
Thanks!!

Solution
To be fair you are replacing what was essentially the highest end mobile processor available in 2012 with a lowish end low power mobile cpu from 2017.

That old i7 is more powerful full stop irregardless of age.

That actually is significant downgrade. You changed from 4core/8thread cpu to 2core/4thread.

thanks both.
The reason for upgrading was not the need for more processing power. That laptop was good in the past as i did lots of photo editing, now i don't do that anymore so don't really need that much power. The new one is yes less powerful but also needs less energy and has an SSD HD which means more battery autonomy, faster access to files, much less overall weight and size.

I was surprised to see how that 'legacy' processor still kicks ass in today's world..

probably worth selling it then? i was just gonna give it away to a friend..
