Hello,

I have an old WD MyBook [ WD10000C033-001 ] that I need to retrieve some backups from, I think I bought it around 2009?

When I connect it via usb nothing appears, not in Device Manager (tried refreshing and searching for hardware changes), not in Disk Management, not even in BIOS. It's as if it was not connected at all.
Changed cable, usb port, multiple restarts, turning it on / off with no luck.

Any suggestions?
Kind Regards

This WD MyBook?

If you open Powershell (as Admin) and run the "Get-Disk" cmdlet does the MyBook appear?

Does the MyBook appear if connected to other systems?

Thank you Ralston18 for your help.

Yes this is the exact model.

MyBook does not appear using powershell

I don't have access to other systems to test it out.

Not sure what else to suggest.

However, I am wondering about Firewire (1394).

Just as a starting thought:

Hello,

Just now I was going to try Ralston18 solution, I connected both usb and power supply to MyBook but I noticed the blue light is flickering and fail to power up (that was not the case yesterday), I switched the power supply with another -quality- one I bought few days ago (lucky!) and my pc recognized it immediately! I didn't even need to install anything.
Thank you very much Ralston18 for your great help and time!
Kind Regards
