I have a 10 year old system running Windows 10 (not sure of version). It boots from an SSD I upgraded 1-2 years ago and has a secondary drive with applications installed on both. Last night while playing, the screen went black and got a hum/whine from the earphones.
On restarting, the BIOS started and power went to the keyboard and the optical drives, fan. The screen either stays black or goes to a Win 10 repair options.

My local repair guy over the phone suspects a hard drive issue and offered to replace the drive, salvage data from it and install windows.

I have a backup image with Acronis.
Suggestions for trouble shooting/getting it running? In a perfect world I’d prefer not to have to install all the apps, modded games etc. Given its age, I am also tempted to replace the system

Thanks in advance

Please pass on the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time?
