Older Asus P5LP-LE Core 2 Duo E6700

I have an older Asus P5LP-LE mother board in a Compaq presario. I upgraded from he Pentium D 820 to a Core 2 Duo E6700. However it only boots to blank screen. The manual states the board supports Core 2 Duo E6x00. My understanding is the E6700 is the highest CPU it supports although I am not certain of this. Is any one knowledgeable on this set up? I seen a BIOS update, would this help? Thanks

I can almost guarantee that you need that BIOS update to support that chip. Put the old CPU back in, flash to the new BIOS and then install the C2D

Is your motherboard a P5LP-LE (Lithium) or a P5LP-LE (Leonite) ? SInce you bought a Core 2 Duo, I presume it's an older E6700 (65nm) and not the newer Pentium E6700 (45nm).
