I'll look into an option like this. It's a custom water loop, so the work for something like this is somewhat extensive. Thanks for another option to consider. Not "no driver support' Just means they won't optimize the older cards for newer games. You should be fine for several more years before the industry shifts so much that your card becomes unsupported. RTX being mandatory would be the big one.
If a game comes out that doesn't work on a Pascal card, it would be entirely up to the game developer to handle it, rather than Nvidia.
Games with new features that could be software enabled on your card, won't be. And any security vulnerabilities may not receive attention.
Windows 10, would be similar. Already some games that require Windows 11 and TPM enabled platforms. Your 6700k is already behind on that regard. So basically no new security updates for Windows 10, though Microsoft often caves in on this for major issues, but minor stuff goes unfixed. However, you can pay Microsoft for extended support for up to three years, and then you can get the updates. What also usually happens is that someone takes those ESU updates and makes them available outside of Microsoft.
Upgrading your core system to replace the 6700k is actually pretty affordable, and then you can just use Windows 11.

In most cases, end of support for hardware means newer drivers will either be incompatible or offer you no benefitCan anyone tell me what this end of GPU support means? I have been trying to figure out what to do when I lose windows ten support this fall already.
Thanks.
Windows 11 is not supported on 6th gen processors. You can try to go around the requirements, but the newest versions of Windows 11 put a stop to that. Still possible, but a lot more work, and I believe updates must be done manually at that point. In most cases, end of support for hardware means newer drivers will either be incompatible or offer you no benefit
As for Windows 10, if the copy is activated with a legit key, you can simply upgrade to 11 through Windows update. Or move to Linux.
Depends a LOT on the particular game in question. What does gaming look like on linux?
I heard they removed the bit locker requirement for win11... or at least they were planning to.Windows 11 is not supported on 6th gen processors. BitLocker yes or no has nothing to do with support for 6th Gen Intel.I heard they removed the bit locker requirement for win11... or at least they were planning to.
I thought the lack of BitLocker was the reason older CPUs weren't supported.BitLocker yes or no has nothing to do with support for 6th Gen Intel.
No, much more than that. TPM, for one.I thought the lack of BitLocker was the reason older CPUs weren't supported.
Completes the move from my oldest build. 11 year old trusty Windows 7-10, soon to be lost and forgotten. Z97 MB, 4790k and 8 year old GTX1080ti. Orphaned.... Sure, the PC will still run. Ubutu Linux is on a NVMe M.2 dive that remains mostly unused. Been trying different distros for over 30 years. Hahahaha. I have much newer equipment but, the old dog holds a place in my heart. Can anyone tell me what this end of GPU support means?
