older pc upgrading ram, compatibility.

The Ram in the pc in question is exactly the following :

it currently has 4 sticks of this ram in it . Im thinking about swapping out two of the sticks with 4gb kit , the kit in question has a ram timing ( this kit in particular) 5-5-5-18 the ram currently running has a timing of 6-6-6-18 will these work together or will there be issues I know as long as you keep the same speed of ram most of the time it should work , but I mean the timing to me seems to be off enough for me to question the compatability. if not, will this work perhaps this kit thanks in advance for advice.

It's difficult to say they'll work for sure. Generally, speeds/timings will run at the lowest of the 2 kits of RAM you have installed (although you may have to set them manually in the BIOS to have them work properly).

The biggest concern I have, is a DDR2 board with maxed out slots (4GB in your case) might well be the maximum the board can allow. Can you post your full specs? At the very least, CPU & Mobo.

Most motherboards of that era supported a max of 8 gb of memory (4 x 2gb) so you would need to check what yours supports. Mixing ram is not guaranteed, but often works at the slower speed/timing.

The board according to the original pc manufacture (this case Dell) says up to 8gb Non ecc 667/800 Ram.
So i think Im fine there. Ill probably get the crucial kit it has the exact latency as the current ram.
