Hello
Im building a new pc with some parts from a gamingpc bought in 2007, running windows xp.
The parts im using from the old pc:
-Delux power supply 420 watt
-Liteon it corp CD/DVD writer
-Apevia x-discovery Case

The new parts
-ASUS M5A97 LE Motherboard
-AMD fx 6350 CPU
-Sapphire R7 260x GPU
-Cooler master hyper 212 Evo
-Crucial Ballistix Sport 8gb
-WD Blue WD5000LPVX

My question is:
I used extreme power supply calculator to calculate my watt. It said my minimum was 380 watt. The one i have is a 420, but it is 7 years old, will it still work after all those years.

Solution
Delux power supply 420 watt

that alone tells me it needs to be replaced sounds like a prebuilt pull out unit

with that fresh build its best to go with a new name brand quality psu .. hands down [opinion]

Thanks then i will go with a 500 watt.

Hello
Thanks for your answer, do you now that the Corsair Builder serie is.
And another question: Is the Apevia x-discovery a good case, does it give a good airflow?

Julian

psu- look up disassembly reviews of the units your interested in and see what its guts are made of .. 100% jap? Taiwan , china ?? you want the best for the money at all times [opinion]

Chinese made Samxon cap...

100% jap usually is the way to go ... I feel the psu is the hart of a build and all depends on it so I go the best I can on that ....

cant say on the case that can be personal preference your room temp parts used too much to conceder-- I still use a 14 year old antec case [sx635] for my new primary builds and just get a decent 25-40$ one for the build I pull out of it ??
