More info?)
Hi Nathan,
there is even Omega version for PC (if you can stand CGA resolution on
your PC monitor... I can not ...) but check Colobot instead. This is
best game for programming fighting machines ala Omega with good
language and nice 3D. It is light years ahead and much better then
Omega. Not possible to compare with core wars but still quite
interesting if you like to program in something like object C. There
are also other programs like Mindrover or even nice PitDroids where
you can make some actions similar to programming and after that hard
work see how your "work" fights in game word.
Sorry for my bad english...
P.S.
Check out also package CoreWin 2.1 for Corewars from Chip Wendell.
This is all in one wonder. You can write and debug warriors and set
tournaments even in gigantic proportion - everything inside this
small windows application. There are also zilions of core wars
programs you can fight with. Only minus I see here is core wars is
sooo mature and there are so many advanced warriors you can probably
not win anything big because in 20 years all what was possible to do
was done already... But still some ideas can be learned and maybe used
somewhere else.
