Hey guys, I'm looking for a little advice if you don't mind.
My son's I to his GCSE yr nxt year and has picked IT, I want to get him a decent wntry level pc thats capapble of playing gta5 and fortnite without lag but also web design & video editing with the intention for him to expand its capabilities maybe later if he wants. Or if your son is somewhat tech savvy you could buy him new parts and you & him could build the system together. There's plenty of build guides out there and if you run into issues post here and we'll try to help out.

The HP Omen 880 is better all around.

The HP's Ryzen 7 1700 CPU creams the I5 8400 for video editing and for gaming the Ryzen 7 and I5 trade blows depending on the game.
The HP's RX580 GPU is much more powerful than the GTX 1050 in the MSI.

Yup HP Omen is the winner.
However, seeming as they will be doing IT, might I suggest buying the parts, then letting them build it. There are lots of tutorials on the internet and if you get stuck you can ask here for help. In addition to the experience, they will also end up with a better system, as building your own is usually cheaper than buying prebuilt. For example, this is what you could build for the same price:

Hi, sorry to bother you again, just seen this, can you see why it would be so cheap, pc world ebay shop have it for 782 but that has 12mth warranty and 120gb ssd, as far as I can see if I get the cheaper and add ssd and 12mth warranty still quits in. Be ok for his needs and of coursemplay fortnite with no probs?

A DIY build is your best bet. Each component will come with it's own individual warranty, and it will be a good learning experience. If they are going to get into the IT field, they are going to have to learn how hardware goes together anyway. This suggestion doesn't include any mail in rebates.

Ryzen HP omen is still the best. The i7 in the last pc you linked is oldee and leaves no room for upgrades.

This was the one j saw tonight, are the omens any good, they seem to have them quite often but finding it hard to compare with so many varying specs. He has set a budget of 700 for the tower and obviously wants the best pre built for that feom a reputable store.

The color of the power supply cables don't dictate quality. We're dealing with prebuilt computers here so we can't really nit pick every little detail. What colors do you think the HP Omen's 300w psu cables are lol?
