• Happy holidays, folks! Thanks to each and every one of you for being part of the Tom's Hardware community!

On a scale of 1-10, how solid is this system?

8/10
motherboard seems overpriced, unless there's a reason for you to use that particular one.
power supply is cheap. get the EVGA Supernova 750W golden fully modular, this would enable 970 SLI later on.
otherwise its immaculate.

Not wanting to go for SLI, and wanted to go for ASUS.

the cx series uses cheap-->bad components. more information about that you can find on the PSu tier list that I will link at the bottom of this post.

as for a PSU I would recommend. after a quick search this came up. SeaSonic]http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-ssr550rm]SeaSonic G 550W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

anyway, give this list a good read!

appart from that it's a very good build. if it's for gaming purposes it's to good even 😉

550 w is enough?

+1 for the 550W SeaSonic.

My system with an Overclocked i5-4670k, and 2x overclocked GTX 970's and a GTX 760TI only pulls 430w under 100% stress. (F@H)

So even my system would fit with a 550w, so that is still more than enough for your build. It's MUCH cheaper, and better quality as well.

I disagree. The Z97-A has a 8 phase power design. THe Z97-k has a 4 phase power design. For overclocking, the Z97-A is better. Disregarding the PCI speeds. That's just a bonus right now.

Only doing a mild overclock, hence the CM Evo. Worse overclock is the least of my concerns.
