Hello, I recently acquired an MSI B450 Gaming pro carbon ac motherboard , and noticed that it has 7.1 channel sound , I currently have Creative Inspire T6160 5.1 surround speakers . I know this may sound self explanatory, but will I be able to use those speakers on this motherboard ? Thankyou for any assistance

Solution
Yeah of course. Your motherboard has support up to 7.1 speakers and how you configure surround for other configurations such as 5.1, 4 (quadraphonic) or 2 channel stereo is done via software. All you gota do is plug the correct audio jacks for 5.1.

I see , so you don’t need to have a side speaker in order for on board sound to work correctly ...? I do have a usb omni 5.1 surround sound card but that is not being supported now by creatice in the drivers which considering y U can still by this sound card is rather odd that they would not update the driver ., my motherboard manual just uses diagrams and therefore not really clear , at least not to me , thanks again for taking the time to assist

Thats alright your welcome.

Yea i had an Audigy back during XP days, had a beefy amplifier on it. Same boat as you, lack of support now. But onboard audio has improved a lot since then.

So yea, in the Realtek software. If you have 5.1 speakers, choose 5.1 in Realtek and same for 7.1. Theres a drop down menu which to choose.
