I just built myself another system using the NF& mobo. I installed all the drivers, updated the BIOS, etc.

The problem is, I can't find any settings for the audio. I get sound, but not 5.1, which I have hooked up. There is nothing in control panel or the program menu to configure my speaker setup, and trying to run Doom 3, it can't detect surround speakers because its not set up in control panel...

Anyone have any ideas as to whats happening/missing?? I have a SB Live 5.1 in right now to give me sound, but would also like the option of using the on-board.

I'd check to see if your onboard sound is disabled in bios.. I'm almost certain it is since running 2 sound cards is near impossible. Anyway, for the onboard sound, check abit's website, they probably have a seperate driver for the onboard sound; I know I had to download a seperate realtek driver for the onboard sound in my K8N Neo.

I originally had the onboard enabled, but couldn't get surround working, so I disabled the onboard and installed the SB and have no problems with it.

I have found the fix though, I went to the abit website and found a forum entry, and a link to the realtec website to download the drivers. The CD that comes with the mobo doesn't have the advanced drivers with it, just enough to make sound from the front speaker 😱

I originally wanted the onboard simply to not have the extra card in my PC, but since I installed the SB Live before I bothered to look for a solution to the onboard issue, I coudn't be bother to remove the SB and install new drivers for the onboard sound.

Beside, like you said, the SB Live will be better anyways. I read a review earlier today that showed CS:S running a few frames faster using hardware excelleration for the audio as opposed to onboard.
