Two mother board exact same price exact same board except one had onboard video the other does not. If you are running a PCI-express video card is there a benefit to not having onboard video? rather than just disabling it?
Or are you better off to have the onboard video as a backup??

I've used a lot of motherboards. Some with onboard video and some without. For the ones with onboard video that I used a PCI-e video card on, I have never used the onboard video.

Its pretty much pointless. There is a bit of a benefit if you have your video card fail on you, you still have your computer working. Other than that, it also adds the ability to attach a third monitor. But that's it.

There aren't any real problems with having it on there and just disabled. If they are the same price and offer the same feature set (with the only difference being the video), I would go for the one with the onboard video, just in case.

But thats just me...

If all other features of the mobos are the same, go with the onboard video option, if you can get it at the same price.
You can disable it in the BIOS, and have it as a future backup option.
