Am off to purchase tonight. Will the Single Drive: 16XCD/DVD burner
(DVD+/-RW) be all I need to read/write BOTH CD-R's CD-RW's & DVD? I
have never had a DVD drive.

That should do it! You will be able to burn both DVDs and CDs with the combo
burner drive. Just be sure it is the combo burner version and not the CDRW
with DVD read capabilities. The 16x drive you describe sounds like the right
one (dual layer ability).
