Amd is shipping 90nm Athlon 64's (link: http://www.itnews.com.au/storycontent.asp?ID=4&Art_ID=21145 ), but there doesn't seem to be any "official release" yet to the consumer. Are we just a few weeks away from newer/faster Athlon 64's based on 90nm?

Amd acknowledged they were shipping mobile chips, a few weeks back ( after they had been shipping for a week or two). They said then, that shipments to oems would start soon, but no real commercial quantities till a bit later.

I don't really *need* a faster machine until mid/late september, so hopefully the new 90nm chip will hit the market and push the price of the lower cpu's down. 🙂

Prices are not going to change. Amd is controling (limiting) sales, by staying close to Intel prices. Good news is, Intel may be lowering prices again soon to reduce inventories. Amd will follow.
