Onboard ethernet port not working.

I have a MSI 970A-G43 PLUS motherboard with Ethernet port offline, but when i use my laptop to connect to the board, the laptop Ethernet port picks up the other port, but fails to connect and shows red light on my laptop. my win10 device manager not picking up the Ethernet. this is a new motherboard fresh out of the box, anyway of reviving the Ethernet port? Please help.

You need to be sure you loaded all the drivers. I would hook it to a router to test. It is much more complex to make things work when you connect it back to back with another machine. Some machine still do not properly negotiate when you use just a cable. It is suppose to work better with gig ports but you still see people have issues.
