Onboard graphics overrides PCIE in BIOS

Hi,

This problem occurred with my previous card and now I've installed a new GTX690 it's happening again. The PC boots up fine, except there was no picture. I thought I may have a faulty DVI cable but after many resets I finally got in to the BIOS. It turns out the graphics configuration was set to 'Auto', instead of PCIE, which I changed. However, after re-starting it reverted to Auto. I've managed to change it back to PCIE but why would it re-set itself in the BIOS? I'm afraid of turning the PC off, in case it does it again.

I have a recent BIOS but not the most recent. I don't think the update specifically does anything about this problem anyway.

Well it wouldn't hurt to do the bios update and try. Sometimes they don't list minor fixes and sometimes its a result of other things conflicting in the bios that might be fixed which may in turn fix your problem. I'd do the update then try again just to be sure.

I updated the BIOS but that hasn't solved it. I still have to reset the PC multiple times on start-up to get a picture. I'll be reinstalling Windows this weekend. I don't expect that will have any direct effect, but who knows?

Later...the Windows re-install didn't have any effect, so no surprise there. Just in case anyone can help, my System Agent Configuration BIOS settings are:

Initiate graphic adapter = PCIe
iGPU memory = 64M
Render standby = Enabled
iGPU multi-monitor = Disabled

Is anything wrong there? Surely as long as I have the graphics set to PCIe it should stay that way but it's still re-setting itself to Auto.
