I ordered this laptop: Asus X555UB-NH51 and in the specs tab, it says:

Memory
8 GB
Memory Spec: 4 GB x 2
Memory Slot (Total): 2
Max Memory Supported: 4 GB onboard + 8 GB

Now what confuses me (despite reading other threads about it), is the 4gb on board + 8
that means it uses one 4gb dimm and another 4gb (onboard?) so i have an empty slot or what?

Solution

It will have one slot occupied by a 4gb module. It is a 2 slot configuration as far as dual channel support is concerned however one of those is soldered to the board and will not be upgradeable/replaceable.

the laptop comes with 8gb, does that mean that it will be configured as 4gb soldered to the board, 1 slot with 4gb, and another free? because it does say Memory Slots: 2
