Once Over on a Hardware Refresh

Well, long story short;
Got a pretty new HD camera (panasonic HDC-800k), and my 5 year old computer just is not fast enough to edit the footage in a timely fashion. I was going to wait for IB to come out, but I find that I have a small project list that is growing, and I suppose the time is now to upgrade.

Approximate Purchase Date: Before the end of Nov.

Budget Range: <$1000 USD, but the closer the $800 the better

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Video Editing (premiere Pro 5 or 5.5), Some gaming (27" monitor, 1920x1200), Tons of Netflix, flash games, and Tom's Hardware (but my current system does that just fine) :D

Parts Not Required: Win7 home 64bit, KMV, 500GB system drive, 2 1TB data drives, Optical Drives, Case, Fans, CPU cooler, and a thumping sound system

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg, and Microcenter preferred, but I have ordered from zipzoomfly and other sites in the past with good experiences

Country of Origin: Good 'ol USA

Parts Preferences:
Intel i5 or i7 for processor, but willing to look at AMD
nVidia 470, 570 or 580 for the GPU (Adobe has special support for these specific GPUs)
Corsair for Ram but am not tied to it
I really like MSI for mobo on paper but I am not tied to them

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: Yes, but in the future

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1200

Additional Comments:
Require RAID, UEFI, SLI, and optical S/PDIF on mobo.
Require nVidia 470, 570, or 580 for GPU
Require 16GB Ram for video editing

Parts I am looking at:
Mobo: MSI P67A-G43

Proc: i5 2400 (While an i7 would give a nice bump in performance for editing, most of what I do would not take advantage of the hyper threading)

Ram: 16GB 4X4GB Corsair XMS3 (Not tied to Corsair, but I do need lots of Ram)

Video: Sparkle GTX570, stock speed, SLI support (not tied to any brand, this one happens to be on sale, and has a good cooler)

Power Supply: OCZ ZS Series 750W, 80Plus Bronze (PS needs to handle future SLI, 1SSD, 2-3HDD, 3 fans, possible future water cooling kit, and a possible 32GB Ram in a future upgrade, not tied to any brand, but silence is golden)

SSD: OCZ Agility 3, 120GB (recently bought OCZ Solid 3 for wife's PC and it is awesome! But I may wait for the prices to come down on this and upgrade later)

OK, that's it. Current total is $970 up front, and $858 after rebates, or $703 w/o SSD. Please let me know of any potential problems or suggestions. I have a solid understanding of parts, but as previously stated, it has been 5 years from the last build

Would an AMD fanboy give me some suggestions for an AMD equivilant? I just know nothing about AMD mobos, and for what I do I think a Phenom 2 x6 would work if it is significantly cheaper in combination with the right mobo. Also, any opinions on waiting for Cyber Monday?

it's all perfect, i just don't like MSI. Asrock z68 extreme3 gen3 is so cheap over newegg and so good that i wish i was living in the states.

For higher end equipment I can understand why you dont like MSI, looks like it is all junk! The ASrock extreme3 gen3 looks like a winner. I like the layout of the Gigabyte board I had picked out better, but this one seems to have much better QC and higher end features.

Emelth; any particular reason for the M4 instead of a Vertex or Agility? The OCZ SSDs seem to run quite a bit cheaper for the same performance, and while it looks like they had a lot of RMAs to begin with, I am not seeing the same complaints in newer reviews so I am figuring they fixed whatever the problem was.

All things being equal I think I am going to jump on the mobo, proc, ram, and power supply today :) I'm going to wait on the SSD for now because I am betting they are going to drop like a rock for Christmas.

vx53c; ya, not sure how I got transferred over to the uk site. I just noticed that when I saw the link in the e-mail.

Thanks for the advice all! You really helped me avoid a pitfall with the P67 chipset!
