One 8gb ram stick or Two 4gb ram sticks?

I have a question since I'm going to be building my first gaming PC. I was wondering If it's best to get a 1 8GB ram stick or a 2x 4GB ram stick. The mother board that I will be purchasing has 4 slots of ram. And ideally, the most ram I'll ever need is up to 16GBs or maybe even 32GBs of rams. But back to my question, would I benefit anything if I get the 1 stick 8gb ram or should I just go for the 2x 4gb ram?

2 sticks would be a bit faster running in dual channel.
If you going to need 16GB I would strongly recommend going ahead and getting a 2X8GB set to keep from potential issues when trying to add more sticks.

Two sticks for days.
Note the fps difference just from running single channel vs dual channel.

I'd personally recommend 16gb. You will not regret it whatsoever.
