Question One 8pin cable for 3070

So I have been using my Powercolor 5700XT Red Devil for about two years, powering it with a single 8 pin (2x 6+2) cable. The highest peak I have noticed was between 230-250W (242W) while it was at 99% util.
I have the option to swap it for a MSI 3070 Ventus 2x OC and I'm about to go for it. I know the peak power of this version of the 3070 is around 220W and it got me wondering, can I use a single 8pin (2x 6+2)cable for it just like I used it for the 5700xt?
A single 8pin cable can supply up to 150W of power, and the motherboard can supply up to 75W, that is 225W which should be right on the edge for that GPU, am I wrong?
How come I was able to use the 5700xt for that period of time over a single 8pin cable if it draws over 225W?

Sadly, I've lost the second 8pin cable that came with my PSU and I am going to order a new one, but for the time being - I believe I can still run the card on a single cable, right?
My PSU is TX750M 80+ by Corsair

I would strongly suggest just undervolting until you get the second cable. My 3060ti would hit 250w+ until I undervolted. A 3070 may have 300w spikes.
