i opened my pc just to check on it and the left fan was spinning while none of the others were, not sure what was going on, all i was doing was watching youtube videos and dling games, I opened fallout 4 and then the left fan stopped, anyone know what thats about? After the temps of it hit 50 degrees all 3 started spinning,

update i closed fallout 4 and paused download's and all 3 fans stopped spinning,

I know that under a certain temp the fans aren't supposed to run but why would just the left one run randomly and the other 3 not?

Solution
So on all Pascal and Maxwell cards the fans do spin up until a certain temp or power draw is reached. However I have seen some times where these strix cards will spin one fan. In fact my 1070 is doing it right now. Never seen any official documentation about this, but I think it is by design and normal. As long as they are all spinning up when youre in a game it should be fine.

that's really weird, haven't seen anybody else talk about it? that also adds to the weirdness.

I can see on this forum https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/4oxkvh/anyone_else_with_1080_strix_have_fans_keep/

A person named "GeneticBOT" posted this "I recently bought an Asus strix GTX 1070 on Amazon and I have the same problem exept that only the middle fan keeps spinning. It's very weird and i don't know if i got a faulty graphics card... Should i return it?" perhaps it's commonplace?

I will attempt to contact asus support, see if I get any info. Will update this thread as soon as I get answers, this doesn't seem normal.
