I have an ati 7850 that needs a 6 pin PCI-E connector. For whatever reason my PSU didnt come with one even though it was supposed to have a 6+2 connector. I looked up the model number and it does indeed say it comes with one. Extreme Gear 600W PSU: PSAZ-CP600 if you are at all interested.

My undying rage aside, would it be okay if I used an adaptor to connect my single molex cable and convert it into 2, then use those 2 to convert into a 6 pin?

I'll give it a shot and let you know what happens. I ordered one from amazon. From everything I've read you need 2 molex connectors to be able to work a 6 pin, but we'll see. It's cheap so no huge loss if it doesn't work.

Thats the thing, I only have one molex cable. My PSU decided it didn't like all those extra bits and lost them in shipping apparently. And that was... 3 years ago? Little late to RMA it now.

A PSU that doesn't have ANY PCIe power connectors is probably too weak to power a strong graphics card, regardless of what is on its label. Using a 2*molex->PCIe power connector may be expecting it to provide more power than it can. If it's a cheap PSU-shaped object (as this one appears to be from listings), it will probably die violently, possibly killing attached parts. If a PSU has one PCIe power connector, it may be safe to use an adapter to add another, if the PSU is otherwise decent.

ive worked with lots of psu's that do not have pcie power connectors and they are strong, they are just not a common consumer brand, but u can still buy them , but like the OP said he only has one rails so y i would suggest another psu then.
