one of my external hard drive is being asked to format

I have 3 partition in my external hard drive, but I m not being able to open one of the partition, and everytime I try to open it, it is being asked to format

well i don't know for sure but my friend told me there are seceral posible reasons of your case.
1. Maybe your computer attacked by some virus. Just try the external hard drive on another computer.
2. open Disk Manager and see if the external hard drive is showing. If it does, means your hard drive may be lack of some driver. You can donwload the software on the internet.
