One particular site I read claims that flooded lead acid batteries release noxious acid gas?

Can anyone on here explain this. I have never heard it before and thought that when overcharging a flooded lead acid battery will only release hydrogen and oxygen gas. This is what all the other educational sites about flooded lead acid batteries say.

But I read one particular site that claims this.
"Flooded lead acid batteries release noxious acidic gas while they are charging, and must be contained in a sealed battery box that is vented to the outside."

Keep in mind the website is actually sort of promoting lithium batteries and talking about why lead acid sucks. But I am not concerned about all that babble.

I want to know if what they say about acidic gas is actually true? Since I have not heard that on any other site.
I mean when the water level drops from electrolysis in the water the hydrogen and oxygen gas release and you had to top the water up eventually but the acid is meant to stay in the electrolyte. Never heard of it turning into gas otherwise topping up the battery with water would not work.

Hi
You are entirely correct in that hydrogen and oxygen are the results of charging, neither of which could be considered either noxious or acidic.
That site is basically incorrect.
