Hi guys! I would really appreciate some help on this one. I have 1 500mbps connection through WoW. I have 3 computers. One is a server for minecraft, one is my main and one belongs to my wife. The server pc shows 1.5 Gbps on the high end and 500mbps on the low end with 8/10 tests on fast.com showing 1.5 Gbps.

My PC hits 120Mbps 10/10 times. (I feel it is being limited on the system itself since the read is so exact every time?)

My wife is getting terrible (by contrast) speeds of 30-50 Mbps spread all over between tests.

I am really not sure what could be causing this but here is the set up:
Modem: Arris Touchstone MODEL: DG3270A
Router: NONE
Cat 5e for all connections.

Server PC:
AMD FX 6300
Asus M5A78L-M/USB3
Lan Driver: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller #2
OS: Windows 10
NO GPU

My PC:
Ryzen 5 1600x
Asus ROG Strix B350f
Lan Driver: Intel I211
OS: Windows 10
Gtx 1080ti

Wife's PC:
I5 4460
Lenovo 10181
Lan Driver: Realtex PCIe GBE Family Controller
Windows 10
RX 480

What I have tried:
Reset Modem
Swapped Wires
Called ISP
Reset Adapters
Reinstalled Adapters
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /flushdns
Swapping Modem Ports
LOTS of google searches
turning it off and back on again
sacrificing a goat

Just can NOT figure this one out!

Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated. I will try a complete reinstall of windows if need be. Oh, it is worth noting that my wife has NEVER been able to get more than 100ish but I was able to hit 500+ no problem before, not sure what is different.

Thanks!

I have no idea about your disparate readings.

I only know (1)No way u gonna get more throughput than what ur paying. ISP if anything don't make this kind of mistake. (2)Todays home equipment tops out 1 gig, you have to consciously purchase high performance equipment to break that 1 gig barrier and since you are asking I wager no.

The only suggestion I have is, always use the Mobo's vendor W10-specific LAN driver, NOT Microsoft.

Yeah that 1.5Gbps result is pretty suspect. I just ran the Ookla test on that PC and its 517-530 over 4 tests. The Asus drivers download abut doi nothing at all when I run the .exe. I have not tried the Lenovo drivers for my wife yet, I suppose I could try to track down the relevant info on that, just hate the Lenovo, Dell, HP stuff lol.

If you have older equipment, those boxes NIC maybe had never been updated for W10. This is very important, you cannot use a W7,8,XP driver for W10. W10 is a major rewrite, I really mean it when I say MUST USE, W10-specific, like labeled, even certified for W10, and coming from your Mobo vendor is best, because they KNOW about the NIC they sold you, and if they have a W10-specific driver it means they took the trouble of re-writing it, and not just "throw" you something "compatible" something that may (or may not) work.

I know. My mainboard is a Ryzen board, AM4 so no worries there. I just found out what was wrong with the wife's PC. She had hers plugged into an ethernet switch. I didnt realize she did that, so hers is now hitting 500+ plugged directly into the modem. Looking for a place to get the driver for mine since the Asus provided one will not do anything. Windows asks if it is ok to install, I say yes, whole thing stops right there.

Yeah I did that too. That installed fine but did not fix the issue. That registry entry error that was popping up has me thinking I need to reinstall windows. Streaming schedule wont allow it for today though, perhaps later tonight.
