Budget aside (I've got £6000/$9200 to spend) I want to build a new computer.
I hope to become a games developer (not designer) but I hope to make my own game while working for a company (I'll be doing everything for my own game, most likely make it with Java/C).
So I would like to know the benefit of having two CPU's over one.
Please don't neglect the benefits and only list disadvantages so I don't actually build a 2CPU system, chances are I wont do this but I just want to know the advantages out of curiosity.
I will be using photoshop/GIMP, but not at a military level ofcourse.
Specifically I would like to know the advantage of two 980X over one, I know one disadvantage is that some programs don't work if you have more than 16threads in your system.
Also will a 2 socket motherboard work with only one CPU installed? (So I can add another at a later date perhaps).
I'm not too sure on how to word this so ask me if you didn't understand something.
