Hey...

For those of you who only one pin...

What do you own?

How long have you owned it?

How long before you buy your next pin?

I had a Creature for one year...traded it in for a NIB LOTR, this
weekend.

No regrets so far...Love LOTR!

Is depth important to you as a one pin owner? I sold CFTBL because it
was shallow (compared to LOTR).

I Need 2 more pins (minimum) in the next 1-2 years. What do you need?

just curious...

Well as of today - I am officially out of the one pin owner group - I
just bought my second pin today.

My first was a Doctor Who - I am a big fan of the show, and have always
wanted it.

Today, about 9 months later, I got my second - F-14 Tomcat. This was
always one of my faves

growing up. This one needs more work than my DW did, but I have a lot
more skills now than I

did back then.

I have a BSD and have had it, and only it, for 2 years. I am looking in
to buying a second pin soon, but have only waited this long for money
reasons.

I picked up BSD for a few reasons:

- To start, It is a pin I would like to have for ever. I think I would
always like to have it in my future collection.
- Second it has a very reasonable price for a 90's era DMD.
- Third and most importantly I chose to buy BSD as my first pin (which
I knew would be my only pin for quite some time) because it is one of
the most challenging pins I have ever played.

I consider myself a great player, but BSD has always kept me on my
toes. True the ruleset my be a bit shallow, but it is difficult to have
epic long games on BSD. The lure of endless 3X multiball alwyas keeps
me comming back for more :)

I would like my next pin to be TOTAN, as it is one of my favorite pins
of all time.

I live in a 1 bedroom apartment, so space is also a consideration.
Realisticly, I can probly have 3 pins in my current living situation.

If I had a dream line up, it would probly include:

Talse of The Arabian Nights
Twilight Zone
Theatre of Magic
Road Show
FunHouse
Junk Yard
Johnny Mnemonic
Cirqus Voltaire
Attack From Mars
Champion Pub
Safe Cracker
Medieval Madness
Star Trek The Next Generation
Revenge from Mars

.... One can dream :)

i had my second pin 5 days after my first, and my third pin 3 weeks
after my second. ps- my first pin was only 4 weeks ago, i've got the bug
:) . my first is a williams E/M, honey. its a 4 player, fun to play,
but not easy. the side outramps are huge, and eats balls. has some
interesting features though, and fast. my second is a williams e/m ,
lucky ace. i love it ! deceptive simple, but very involving. 3 jet
bumpers, 4 flippers, and basically a wide open playfield, very fast.
very flipper involved, lots of fancy flipper work needed to stay alive
and get specials and freeballs. i love the art, almost picasso like,
very kitchy. downside is single player, i love to compete. my third is
in pieces, a williams e/m aztec. i got it cause its 4 player. will be
nice when i'm done, all i really know about it is what ive read here,
thats is a good unit, lots of fun.

I bought my Space Shuttle in mid-July of this year. My cousin has one,
and I could see that it has a graphic of the Hubble Space Telescope on
the playfield. Since I work on that spacecraft, and it plays quite
well, I decided to buy one myself. The kids and I enjoy playing it.

Since I bought it, I have purchased a replacement backglass, and I am
doing a playfield refurbishment. Looks like I have been definitely
bitten by the pinball bug!

I owned my first pin for about a year before adding a 2nd one, then 6
months after that I added a 3rd.

It's tough to own just one.

I've had a Diner for a little over a year. One of these days I may get
another machine. I'd like to get a 70's EM and perhaps something
really modern. Time is why I haven't got another one yet, raising a
family takes a lot of time. That's also why I haven't tired of the
Diner yet. I probably only play it about twice a week for a half hour
or so.

Another recent multi-pin owner here. Dr. Who was also my first, I love
the TV show and had played the pin on location and really liked the
play. I've had it about 7 years. In the past couple years I've gotten
into video games. I restored a Tempest, and built 3 different MAME
cabinets.

I was cruising ebay and mentioned to my wife that there was a Data East
Trek 25th for sale. She's a big classic Trek fan, but not a real
pin/vid fan - so I was suprized when she suggested we buy it. Anything
that gets her more interested is great with me, so we bought it.

I have to admit that the game play isn't very deep, but that works out
too as she isn't exactly a pinball wiz. It was also a lot of fun
getting away from working on vids and back to the more mechanical side
of things. I just finished the major work on it last night.

I've always liked pins, but haven't activley searched for them. I
prefer them to vids, but as vids became more popular pins became more
scarce. Poorly maintained machines on location also tend to dim the
enthusiasm. Eventually I just seemed to stop playing. I'll play when
I can find one, but lately that's few and far between.

Our recent addition has me thinking of getting my butt out there and
trying some new machines. I found a website that lists some local
places that have machines, so I just need to get out there. It's
pretty sad when there are people in this group who own more machines
than I have even played.

I recently bought my first pin ever. It was rather an impulse buy. I
wanted something cool and I loved playing pinball when I was a little
younger (I am still only 24). Nowadays it is very hard to find pinballs
at bars etc. in Belgium.

Since it was my first pin I defenitly wanted a working one. Choice is
limited here, but I found a working one which looked quite alright at
ebay. It is a Bally - Truck Stop (1988). Not an especially well-known
pin, and I am sure most of you pin wizards will find it only mediocre.
The rules are quite simple and straight forward. Since I have it, I read
a lot about pin maintenance and off course I had to fix some things
(broken lamps, stuck switches, burned fuses, replace some diodes, ...).
The pin is now fully funtional. It was only 90% functional when I bought
it, although I was under the impression nothing was wrong with it.
Newbies he ;)

The playfield has mylar on it (doesn't look like factory installed), so
the playfield is quite well reserved. There are two places with
significant wear where there is no mylar. I don't think the previous
owner ever had the glass off, because he didn't know how to do it. The
ramps were quite dirty and the habitrails lost there shine. I cleaned
everything.

I have it about 1 month now, and it has already more than 700 games on
it since. So I am really glad I got into this hobby. I really enjoy
playing the pin. I am not actively looking for a second one (mainly for
money issues), but I can imagine one day buying a second pin. Maybe I'll
trade in the one I have when I get bored. I don't think I will be able
to afford one of the "better" pins like IJ, TZ, TAF, MM, ... though ;)

I like Truck Stop except for the horn noise that the game continually seems
that it needs to make. I though the layout was pretty good, and the game was
entertaining. I do not like the alphanumeric displays they used in that era
game, but I could easily get over that :)

I currently own Whitewater. I looked around at a few pins and decided
to go with this one for depth of play, neutral theme, challenge of
shots, and I found one in near collector quality with lots of spare
parts.

I had owned Jungle Lord 15 years ago and really enjoyed that game. It
is a shooter's game like WW.

I have a F2K nonworking project in the garage right now. This winter I
will put it together and see what happens. I think it's mainly
cosmetic and poor connections keeping it from playing. When I picked
it up it bonged a few times, put garbage on the displays, and kicked a
ball out.

my first love was a tz, which i bought six months ago. i wish i knew
then, what i know now in just these six months and i would not have
paid as much, but i dropped in another $1200 and it is now with most of
the toys including a third mag. but ... pins are like peanuts, you
just can't have one \-). i just got a monster bash, it is in bad need
of a shop job, and will need complete decals, some plastics broken, but
i got a fair price. this will keep me busy for the months to come.

mb was not on my must have list, but bought it because i love the game,
it was an opportunistic deal so i jumped in with both feet as it think
it complements, not competes with the tz with differant flow, pace and
theme ... and yes, i am already thinking of the next game \-)
although i have a short list, a lot of what you buy may be the deal of
the day as pins are getting hard to find at a reasonable price.

good luck, and make some more room at your place \-)

Yep, very important. There's so much to do on here you won't get bored.
Good luck *ever* getting to Warp Factor 9.9, or getting an artifact in
Q's mission, or getting all the asteroids in Asteriod Mission, or
nailing the Super Spinner for big points and a cool sound, or hitting
the upper ramp-to-Borg ship for a 3x jackpot during multiball,
or....man, just put this on your list for pin #2.

I need a bigger house = big gameroom = more pins. LOTR sounds good to
me.

It will be a while. Need additional time, space and money before I invest
in expanding my collection.
