One ram stick out of two is dead (?)

I recently built a PC, everything went fine but it didn't post. When I took out a stick of ram on my mb's second slot, my pc booted. Now I have my PC set up and I have games installed, but only now did I realize I only have 8gb of ram, and I can't live with that, so I tried putting the other stick in. But my pc failed to post, the PC turns on, no beeps, and it stays turned on. So I removed all of my ram sticks, and I put the "bad" one in the first slot, boom, same result. I don't know how to fix this so I was hoping someone could help me, thanks for reading and have a good day

What do you mean same result? It booted or it didn’t?

Was the RAM from a single matched kit? Any possibility you have a bent cpu pin?

It didnt post anything, but the PC was on. There are no bent CPU bins as I could boot with my other stick if ram. And yes the ram was from a single matched kit

So if one stick works and other does not when tried in the same motherboard slot that would suggest a faulty stick of RAM.
