So when I boot my PC and get into windows most of the time it only detects only one ram stick. Then if I restart it detects the second one. Sometimes, when I boot it, it might beep 3 times, which indicates that there is a ram problem, then shuts down and starts again by itself. I want to mention that I ran a memtest a couple weeks ago and no errors came up. Also, I formatted my PC last week. I have had this problem for the past couple months. I'm a little worried because my friend told me that he had a similar issue and after sometime his ramstick gave up on him, so I would like to fix it before I'm left with only one stick.

PC Specs:
AMD Ryzen 5 1600
Gigabyte GeForce GTX1060 3GB
HyperX Predator RGB 2x8GB DDR4-2933MHz
Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3(rev. 1.0)
Corsair VS Series VS550

I think there is might be something wrong with the stick....or perhaps even the slot (if the problem stays with the slot). I would try new RAM.
Yeah the thing is I can't find which one has the problem..

Update the motherboard´s BIOS. Ryzen 1 is very sensitive when it comes to RAM compatibility

Are both sticks installed in the red dimm slots?
I have updated to the latest bios since december and there has not been another update since then..

Yes both are on the red dimm slots, as I read on the MOBO manual that 2 dimms work better on the 2nd and 4th dimm slots.

Also run the EC FW update Tool from the gigabyte homepage utilities
https://www.gigabyte.com/de/Motherboard/GA-AB350-Gaming-3-rev-1x/support#support-dl-utility

reflash the latest BIOS version within BIOS using q-flash

Reset the BIOS by jumper clrCMOS or JBAT or similar (eventually you will have to set the bios priority correctly after that)

check the memory by running memtest.org usb autoinstaller (bootable USB flash drive)
try one stick at a time in the left red dimm slot

run the RAM at 2133MHz and have a look if it detects the RAM all the time, if yes, set it to 2666MHz

How did you set the RAM to 2933MHz?

run userbenchmark.com and post the http link of your result

check the CPU pins for bent or broken ones

Ok so this morning I heard the 3 beeps as I booted the PC and went straight into bios after it restarted it only showed 8GBs of RAM, so I looked around to try and find which slot isn't working right... I went into easy mode and it showed me the 4 slots and which ones have sticks on them and how much RAM they have. Only the second one showed 8GBs and the rest were empty. So it's probably either the 4th dimm slot or the stick itself right?

To answer the MHz question above.. I use Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P.): Profile 1, which automatically sets all the values of the RAM and the frequency to 2933MHz(1.35V).. I've had it like that since I got the RAM sticks, for a year and a half, close to 2 years...

I'm gonna try and do all the troubleshoot that you mentioned... If you have any other recommendations based on the information that I gave above, reply on this...

I completed the list in the following order:

I ran the EC FW Update tool and it came up with 00000(i have no idea what this is btw)

I reflashed the latest bios using q-flash and updated the backup bios aswell

I reseted the bios by clrCMOS

I checked the cpu pins

I ran the userbenchmark.com. here are the results:
https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/28980265

And finally I ran 2 memtests each one with 1 ram stick. On the first I used the ram stick that was on the dimm slot that was recognised every time in the bios, for 3 hours and it came up with 0 errors. On the second I used the ram stick that was on the dimm slot that sometimes didn't get recognised, for 9 hours and it came up with 0 errors aswell.

That's all. I swapped the ram sticks in the dimm slots to see if the problem is with the MOBO and not the stick. I'm gonna leave it for a few hours and then check again, if I hear the beeps or if the stick isn't getting recognised.

Finally after a month and a half with the swapped ram sticks.. I started getting only one stick recognised.. It happened 3 to 4 times in the past days and today I jumped in the bios to check which one has the problem. It seems that the first ram stick(this was the second before the switch) is getting recognised and the second is not getting recognised.. So the only thing that comes to my mind is that the dimm slot is broken or something.. Any way I can fix it? Or do I have to get a new mobo?

I hope someone reads this to help me out because a lot of time has passed since I updated this thread..

In my experience....if the slot is the problem...I've never had much luck fixing them. I have cleaned slots and cleaned memory and solved problems....but if there is actually a problem with the slot.....then no....I haven't been able to repair that.
