[SOLVED] One-to-one pc network has status "Unidentified network" / unable to bridge connections

Hello!
Since I was experiencing ping issues using the physical wifi adapter, I had been using a network bridge from my laptop's WiFi to a direct ethernet cable to my pc (setup = modem router through wifi to laptop, laptop ethernet to pc). It took a lot of fiddling with settings to get this to work, and just now I had to do a factory reset on my pc for some unrelated issue. So I inserted the ethernet cable in my laptop, but now both ends of the cable tell me adapter Ethernet is "Unidentified network". Bridging right now in Network Connections gives me "An unexpected error", but still opens a bridge, however this one is only connected to my WiFi. Does anyone know how I can get rid of the Unidentified network, so I can bridge the connections?

How are you establishing the network connections?

E.g.:

ISP --->Modem ---Ethernet cable --->[WAN] Router wireless>Laptop ----Ethernet --->PC

Edit and correct as necessary. What IP addresses are being used?

Your eg is correct. What do you mean by what IP addresses are being used? I've tried DHCP /automatically and setting the ip of the other as gateway which someone else said.
