This problem has been ongoing for about a year now but seems to get worse over time. When I press the power button, the pc will sound as if it is running normally, but nothing appears on the monitor. The mouse and speakers turn on as usual everytime. Sometimes the keyboard lights up and sometimes it doesn't. Every now and then the pc will successfully start up, and work as normal, for any length of time. The problem only starts again when I turn it off. I don't believe it could be a monitor problem as I've tried connecting it to different monitors and the exact same thing happens.
Originally the pc was running Windows 7 but when the problem started a year ago my brother tried a few things to fix it and also updated it to Windows 10 for me, so it's now running Windows 10. We've tried a few things to fix it. We removed my old hard drive and bought an SSD and installed that (my games were running slowly and buying an SSD was the only update I could afford at the time). For a while it started working normally again, then after a few weeks it started failing to start up again occasionally. And overtime it becomes more and more common to not start up until I'm having to try booting up to 20 times before it'll boot, and I usually give up and come back a day or two later at which point it tends to have a better chance of starting normally.
There's no beeps to indicate an error code. But sometimes it does go to a blue screen with an error code (0xc0000225) and suggests using recovery tools but every time I've gotten to this screen (which isn't even very often) the keyboard hasn't been working so I haven't been able to try and do anything. I have also tried reformatting once but again that only improved the problem for a matter of weeks before it got more common again.
I'm not very computer literate but I have relatives who are and they are stumped by this problem. Please help me out with this, it has been ongoing for almost a year now and I can't really afford to buy a new pc right now so I'd love to fix it. It's driving me insane never knowing if I'll be able to use my pc or not, and when it does actually start up I'm terrified to turn it off and leaving it running for days at a day which I know probably isn't great.

Edit: I don't know if it's worth mentioning but sometimes I only need to press the start button briefly to turn it off (when it isn't showing anything on the screen) but sometimes I have to hold it down to turn it off.
