Anyone know of any servers running Quake I? I have been playing and
hosting Unreal Tournament, but Quake is my first Love.

Download and install Gamespy. That program will connect to various master
servers and retrieve all known Quake and QuakeWorld servers.

Get The All Seeing Eye at http://www.udpsoft.com/

And get FuhQuake at http://www.fuhquake.net/

Or better yet, download eQuake, a package that includes both and much more,
at http://equake.quakeworld.nu/

Are those normal Quake servers? As opposed to QuakeWorld? If so, I hope
anyone who tries them has a very very good ping!

Yep. Good ol' Netquake. Never got used to QuakeWorld...high ping or low. I
think GameSpy polls their list anyhow. In fact that's how I originally got
the link.

High-pings in Quake aren't that much different from high-pings in
QuakeWorld. The only difference is that there is client-side prediction
that shows the user where he should aim for optimum effect.

Given the time at which QuakeWorld was released, I doubt that hitscan
attacks are calculated client-side, but it was the first game where there
was a fully functional Aim-bot...
