[SOLVED] Only 1.5mm difference. Will Cooler Master V8 GTS fit??

I have Cooler Master MB 520 RGB chasis, the Cpu clearance is 165mm

I am dying to buy Cooler Master V8 GTS, the height is 166.5mm.

Now obviously they are not compatible officially, but i wanted to ask has somebody tried such a thing? The difference is 1.5mm.

I have measured the distance from mobo to the inner side of the side panel, and it is 167mm.

Actually i have measured the height by placing the ruler on the mobo and upto where side panel fits. And it is exactly 6.9 inches. Which is 175 mm. So yes this includes the socket and cpu thickness

You need to fit the CPU and measure from the actual surface die of the chip when its installed.

Such measurements are not always perfectly accurate.
I suspect that you would be ok.
The side panel is likely a bit flexible, sufficient to allow installation.
That said, buy from a place where you can return the cooler if needed. Expect to pay a restocking fee.

The cooler is certainly a good looking one, likely why you picked it.
There are other coolers that are equally efficient that will fit.

The only option I have is Ali Express, and the seller has agreed to take a picture of the cooler with a ruler measuring the exact height. It will be a risk, but sadly due to lockdown situation this cooler is out of stock in my country.

Yes initially I started researching Noctua NH-D15s, but really its the esthetics of V8 that changed my mind.

Update:

The cooler has finally arrived (delayed due to covid). And i have successfully installed it! There is still about 3 mm space between the cooler ans side panel. Still have to check the performance during games.
