Hi guys,

I recently bought a used Dell Vostro 460 with the i7 2600, 8GB RAM and a 500GB HDD.

I used the Windows 10 media creation USB that I previously setup a while back to install Windows 10 Home to get started. As I was going through the process I noticed a black screen pop up saying "No Keyboard" upon startup, sort of dismissed it, and continued to setup Windows. I had to use a few different ports before both the mouse and the keyboard would work so that I could do this. So I finally installed Windows and now I have realised that the front 4x USBs work, but only 1 USB on the rear from the mobo actually works. A second does intermittently detect when something is plugged n but then I get the error of "Windows did not recognise the device" or "The device may have malfunctioned" or whatever it says. The other 2 don't seem to work at all.

I have tried updating / uninstalling ports and hubs in device manager (using online search method and reinstalling the "Generic USB Hub"). Where one or two instances are listed as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)".

I have tried Dell's own detect / update service which didn't help. It put exclamation marks next to some USB devices but didn't fix anything and actually failed on the next step.

I have tried to update the BIOS which said I already had the latest version.

I have tried search the motherboard model number DH67M01 TB0420 as printed on the circuit board and the first Google link sends you straight back to the same Vostro / XPS page.

I have tried shutting down the PC, unplugging the power and all USB connections, then starting the PC and adding mouse and keyboard after Windows has loaded. None of it works!

I have checked that the USB ports are not particularly loose or broken as far as I can feel.

I have tried the Windows Troubleshoot "Find and fix problems" which doesn't fix anything (of course).

Is there anything else I can try please?

Thanks

Hi cin19, thanks for your reply. I am not sure if the link you have provided me is the correct one?

This is what the Intel page you linked states:

This download is valid for the product(s) listed below.
Intel® B150 Chipset
Intel® B250 Chipset
Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility
Intel® H110 Chipset
Intel® H170 Chipset
Intel® H270 Chipset
Intel® H97 Chipset
Intel® Q150 Chipset
Intel® Q170 Chipset
Intel® Q250 Chipset
Intel® Q270 Chipset
Intel® X299 Chipset
Intel® Z170 Chipset
Intel® Z270 Chipset
Intel® Z97 Chipset

I'm not really sure what motherboard Dell uses here, at a guess it would be H67 from the code on the motherboard "DH67M01" ? How do I find the correct download for that please?

I have now tried this but unfortunately it still hasn't fixed the problem.
