so i only just upgraded to a 200mbit internet but im still getting 95-100mbit internet over Ethernet when i got into my router setting it showed "Full-duplex 100 Mbit/s" so i assume this may be the reason im not getting my 200mbit connection. even though i am using a Cat6 cable its 40meters. From my knowledge Cat6 cables should handle up to 1000mbit connection right? why am i only able to have 100mbit/s? is it a something in the settings? or is it actually my cable? I used a ethernet cable tester to test this cable to make sure it has no problems. Are there different type of cat6 cables?

Put simply the Ethernet ports of the current cable router modem you have may only support 100 Mbit speeds.

When ever you upgrade the speed of your internet connection you must check what the speed of the Ethernet ports of the current cable modem you have run at.

If you have had the cable modem for a few years it will be the soul reason as to why any device using a wired connection from it can only manage a maximum speed of 95 to 100 Mbits of speed regardless if the client machine has an Ethernet adaptor can do 1Gbps speeds or you use a cat 6 cable.

You need to phone the ISP up and get a newer version of the router they supply you with Aladdad if you have had the current router modem for more than two to three years.

I realized that its my router. i have a 40 meter cat6 cable going out from my Modem to a Router and it seems that this router im using is a linksys N300 that only supports 10/100 so my modem was only giving out 100mbit/s
thanks you guys for your time :p
