Hi all, i just got the acer predator xb3 which overclocks to 280hz. But my problem is that i want at least 144hz on hdmi but I only have 120hz. I have a gtx 750 (not the ti version) with the hdmi cable that came in the box. my cpu is the i5 6600k not sure if that matters. What could it be that I can't get at least 144hz?

HDMI spec of the GPU, Monitor, can cable.

On the back of the monitor, whats after xb253q ? Gx, Gp, Gb...
Looks like it's hdmi 2.0 according to one website but another says it's 1.4a. the back of the monitors is xb253q GWbmiiprzx , the cable came with the monitor so I'm not sure.

GTX 750 does not support HDMI 2.0. The most you will get at 1080p is 144 Hz, if the monitor has a profile for that. But it is common for monitors to be limited to 120 Hz over HDMI.
Ah ok thanks. I'll have to ring the manufacturer of the monitor to find out.

Figured it out today, i used displayport on my onboard graphics and it shows up to 280hz. Looks like like glenwing said, must be capped to 120hz on hdmi
