[SOLVED] Only direct connection by IP working

My college lan has some blocked ports and firewall etc. We can play LAN games together by using direct connection through ip address.
But creating lan servers ingame don't work/are not visible in the lan network.

Since some games don't have direct connection option, I'd appreciate help regarding:

1. Why the LAN behaves like this?
2. Can something be done to make game servers visible/joinable?
3. Is there any way to direct connect in a LAN game,which doesn't have direct connect option in the menu or a console?

You have answered your own question!! I expect they have isolation enabled. This is best practice in a college environment.
