Hi all , I'm going to lay out a little timeline here so it makes my issue clear:
I just downloaded the new call of duty yesterday. I downloaded the game, and turned my monitors off. When I came back later, only my secondary monitor (connected via HDMI) would be detected by the computer. The primary monitor connected via display wasn't being detected. After messing with the cords, now only the primary monitor connected via hdmi is being detected, the secondary monitor wont read. I can't tell if it's just me overthinking, but my monitor somehow looks less clear and maybe the colors look a little more muted. I updated my gpu drivers, and did a windows update. When opening the new COD, it said it looked like my graphic settings have changed since I last opened Call of Duty, would I like it to optimize? . After rebooting, I am greeted with the following message.
Microsoft Visual C++ 2022 Additional Runtime- 14.40.33810
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'vc_runtimeAdditional_x86.msi' in the box below."
I had no idea what this was, but I found a forum instructing me to download a microsoft troubleshooting app which had me uninstall the "packages" I guess they would be called, for example Microsoft Visual C++ 2022 Additional Runtime x.86, or minimum runtime x64. I honestly don't know what I did, but after messing around in the troubleshooter I was able to get the error code to go away.
The original problem still persists, only one montitor is getting detected at time. My primary 144hz monitor refuses to be detected when the diaplay cable is hooked up, but my 60hz gets detected by both HDMI AND display cable. Only one monitor can be connected at a time. I tried plugging one into the hdmi port on the motherboard, and one into the GPU, but only the GPU port is getting signal. This is super frustrating, and it all stemmed from a call of duty download!? The original monitor simply looks bad when connected VIA hdmi, colors look muted and it doesn't seem nearly as clear picture.
I'd really appreciate help figuring this out, I'm not a very advanced computer guy, but would wiping the PC and just redownloading windows solve the issue?
