Only one RAM slot working

hi, I've got a problem with my RAM slot one is working and the other is not only slot 1 is working when ever i put either of the RAM stics in slot one the pc is booting up and everything is fine but when im trying to put them in the other slot it wont recognize the ram and if its the only ram installed the system wont boot up

Not much info to go on. Try resetting the BIOS...?
What's the mfg./model of the stick(s) and what is the system mfg./motherboard?

Check to make sure your bios is reading the ram at the correct mhz, I had this problem and after resetting it it worked fine.

my motherboard model is gigabyte h61m-s2-b3
and the ram sticks model is kingston kvr1333d3n9/4g-sp
and how do i reset my bios

There will be a little coin looking thing on your motherboard with a little clip on the outside of it, push the clip in and pull the coin out. This is your CMOS battery, leave it out for 10-15 minutes, then put it back in. This should clear your BIOS.
