Hello guys,
i have a Lenovo Ideapad Z510 with an dedicated Geforce GT 740M, additionally to the integrated card. I installed a harddrive with a previously used Windows 8.1 installation from my older Laptop and it works perfectly fine except for the fact that Windows only allows me to select one resolution (yeah it's german for recommended setting):
Digging further, i think the problem is that my laptop is using the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter instead of my GeForce. The laptop i took the windows installation from originally had an Intel integrated graphics card and maybe Windows doesn't find the integrated of the older system on the current laptop, so it switches to the current integrated card? Could that be? On the other hand, the Nvidia Control Center is displayed and i can even select the GeForce to use it to run the games when I right-click the executables. I tried to change the primary video adapter in the registry but Lenovo really stripped it off any real functionality(not my pic, but the BIOS looks about the same):
.
So what could be the reason? Am i running on my integrated or my GeForce? If the second, i would still need to be able to change the resolution.
Cheers
