Question Only recognizing 16gb of 32gb ram

Bios updated
CPU Ryzen 5 5600x
Ram 4 x 8gb corsair

all ram is same and purchased as 1 sale
tried each dimm individually in each slot, no probs, all ram works individually in each slot
only recognizes 16gb of 32gb

Did the ram come as a kit of 4 sticks or you bought 4 individual sticks?

Where are you seeing this 16GB?

Seeing it in bios and in taskmgr

Yes, bought as set from corsair.
Memory has been reseated numerous times.

Just was in bios and saw something did not notice before
only recognizing B1 and B2
showing A1 and A2 as empty, no matter how I arrange ram sticks

went back into bios, under memory, under SPD
Now shows A1 and A2 active, but B1 and B2 empty.
Have tried xmp on and off.
Seems to alternate between A's and B's after booting

searched everywhere, no function to enable or disable dimm slots that I could find

Is this a new build?

Even if you could get it to work you would leave a lot of perf on the table.

I would think you would want to shop for 3200/3600 ram not 2666.

Check the cpu for any damaged pins.

semi-new build ... if it was cpu pins, wouldn't that cause a specific set of slots to act up and not be alternating? It was what I could afford at the time.

What parts did you change for this upgrade?

No idea what each pin on a cpu does.
